Hierarchy Role-playing Status: Controlled by Madame (King Godric Manchester)
The Kingdom of Edwin is the most powerful of the nations of Feila, and is ruled by the Feline. The current system of government is a Feudalist Monarchy, with counties presided over by nobles, whom answer to the monarch. The military, being the Edwinish Army and Edwinish Royal Navy, whilst second largest in numbers, is the most effective fighting force in Feila. It is geographically connected to its larger neighbour, Gawain. This nation is similar to Earth's medieval England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.
Note Gwynedd (pronounced Gwinneth) is the Feila version of Wales, Éireann is Ireland and Fortriou is Scotland. All other counties are representative of England. Another note on "Castle Caernarfon", the first major defensive presence against a hypothetical Gawainian invasion. In fact, Lindisfarne, Alnwick Castle and Fortress Wessex (The largest and most dangerous) are all walled towns and castles to contain any invader from Gawain getting around the Thames River (not crossable without boats - Gawainian military strategy doesn't like boats) to Old Nottingham Town.
Following this paragraph are charted areas of Edwin. While you can do whatever you please in your role-playing, create and destroy any area that you wish, this information will not reflect on the chart. Despite that this chart is the official layout of Edwin, it is not to be taken as gospel in role-playing, and is simply a guideline for people unfamiliar with the area.
The Edwin Area Chart
Old Nottingham Town -- The capital of the country and home to its feline royalty. It is one of the oldest settled areas in Edwin.
The Twilight Memorial -- Located in Old Nottingham Town, the memorial is a life-size sculpture of black marble in the shape of a female cat, obviously distressed, hugging a stoic cat in Edwin’s formal naval attire set on a carved block of white marble that has been chiseled with the name of every sailor lost at sea since the statue's creation.
Barnsley -- This village rests deep within the forest, and is populated by otters.
Newark -- A small town that rests near Old Nottingham Town.
Lindisfarne -- A large city located near Old Nottingham Town and home to the Midas Arena. Is also one of the three major walled towns and keeps built in defence from Gawain.
Sheringham -- A large port city that sees a lot of activity.
Brighton-On-Sea -- A port town in Sussex. Known for it's idyllic civilian lifestyle alongside the bustling Naval dockyard, some of the largest in the world.
Castle Caernarfon -- A fortified town in Gwynedd(pronounced 'Gwinneth'), on the border between Edwin and Gawain, built to protect the lands of Edwin from any Gawainian army. Hence the sizeable siege works and elaborate moating, bridges and portcullises that protect the town. Caernarfon is pronounced "Canarvon".
Fortress Wessex -- The Edwinish phrase 'like trying to break into Fortress Wessex' is traced to the construction of a near impenetrable conglomerate of keeps, walls triple the thickness of normal around the town and some of the most elaborate siege works in Feila. Wessex being a very rich county in resources and wealth has a lot to defend, as well as several bridges that lead into Nottinghamshire, a possible Gawainian invasion route.
Alnwick Castle -- Another strong keep against a Gawainian invasion through to Northumbria.
