Gemini and Veruka ran to the entrance but didnt leave. "Run Padric! Quickly!" Gemini shouted, the guards turned and spotted Gemini and Veruka. Veruka drew her swords and ran at the first guard. She slashed a few times and he fell dead. Gemini raised her hands and they glowed red for a minute and the second guard burst into flames.

Padric did indeed run, with the lead guard still hot on his tail, although he wondered why Veruka and Gemini hadn't left yet. He skidded to a halt, spinning in place to shout back at them.
"What are you doing?! RUN! oop!" He ducked just in time to avoid being beheaded by the burly guard. Ducking under the broadsword he began running in the opposite direction, now he just had to worry about the two remaining guards coming at him.

With a leap he managed to reach up and grab onto a ceiling beam, using it to swing over the two guards. He landed roughly, nearly losing his balance before he could resume his earlier pace.
"Go, Go GO!"

Gemini jumped up and down as Padric ran toward them. Veruka jumped and hopped down in front of the two guards. Gemini ran toward Padric and grabbed his hand and back to the door. Veruka was holding back to last guards. "We're not leaving with out you." Gemini bleated and stopped at the entrance. "Or Veruka." she added. Veruka manged to kill one of the guards but the second one was a formibable foe.

Seeing Veruka struggling with her foe, Padric tried to help. Drawing his dagger he charged back at the guard, slamming into the fur shoulder first. The impact knocked both him and the guard to the ground. Padric quickly recovered, scrambling back up to his feet.
"Come on!" he said, grabbing Veruka by the wrist, and running for the door. He could feel a twinge of pain from his side, but he was more focused on their escape. He had probably just landed wrong, anyway.

Gemini started jumping again. Veruka yanked her hand back and but her swords back in there shethes. Gemini kicked open the door and ran outside. Veruka picked up speed and burst through the door. Gemini bleated "This way!" and ran toward the center of town. Veruka grabbed Padrics hand and darted after Gemini.

"Whoah. Ladies, hold on a minute." Padric said after being dragged along for a bit. "I don't see them following us, so let's relax a minute. If we go tearing through the center of town people are gonna start asking some questions." Slipping his hand free of the panther's he slowed to a halt, panting a little bit.

Leaning against the side of a building for a few moments to catch his breath, he took a look around. That was certainly a bit of an adventure, but at least he knew where he was now. That pain in his side was still there, and steadily getting worse; he looked down to see a red rimmed slash in his shirt. Leaning his head back against the wall he muttered a brief profanity to himself, partially just a general curse, partially berating himself for not watching where that guard's sword was.

Gemini stopped and flopped backward with a thud. "Ah the sky looks so beautiful. I havent seen it in two years." Gemini bleated softly raising her arms up. A few people walking past stared at her. Veruka looked at Padrics side and shook her head. "Your gonna need to get that looked at." she said. She then snapped her fingers and pulled out the roll he stole eariler. "You might want this." she said and half laughed.

Padric shrugged when Veruka mentioned his wound.
"Just a scratch. I've had worse." he said taking the bread. He looked at it for a moment, then tossed it aside. It just didn't seem worth all the trouble it had caused.

He sighed sitting down on a crate, wincing a little as the wound stung from his movements. He was pretty sure that so long as he was careful he'd be alright though. He just needed some time to heal.

"So now that you're free, what's your next step?" he asked, turning his attention back to the two ex-slaves.

Gemini disregarded the question and just kept staring at the sky. Veruka blinked a few times the answered "Im gonna follow you. I have no where else to go." she smiled and walked over to piece of bread on the ground. She picked it up and broke it in half and dropped a piece on Geminis stomach. She sat down and nibbled on the half. "Dont toss food. Even if its only bread. Its still bread." Veruka said and watched Gemini eat her piece.

"Well..." That presented an interesting dilemma.

"I don't really know if I'm the kind of guy you wanna be following around." he said slowly. "I, um..." He floundered for a bit, trying to figure out how to best put it.
"I do a lot of... night work, I guess you could call it." he looked around for a moment, studying the street around him. "And that bread is what got me into this whole mess."

"Its still food." Gemini bleated. "And your bread got us out of the ring" Veruka said and finished the bread. Her stomach growled. "I think your just fine to follow around, and I have a plus. Black fur" Veruka said and smiled. "And Gemini can see through doors and walls." she added. Gemini sat up and nodded.

Padric could see that there was no arguing with these two. Massaging the bridge of his muzzle, he thought for a little bit.
"Alright, I just gotta gather some stuff. I don't really think you ladies would like my place." He'd gather the little bit of money he had, and then rent a room at an inn. At the very least it would be a welcome change of pace for them.
"I'll be back soon," he said, wincing slightly as he stood. with a smile he started walking down the street.

Veruka nodded. But Gemini jumped up and followed him. Veruka stood up and sighed. She streched and walked down the street following Gemini following Padric. A pair rich nobles passed Gemini and gave her a pair of dirty looks. Veruka saw and when they walked past her, Veruka grew slightly richer. She whistled and tossed the two bags up into the air and caught them again. She tied the two bags to her belt and continued to follow Gemini.

Padric walked through the city streets, his path taking him to less and less crowded areas. Eventually he stopped at a small, somewhat run-down looking building. After looking at it for a moment, he walked around to the side, and stretched a little bit. He then deftly climbed up on top of a pile of crates, using the added height to leap up and grab onto a wooden plank that was nailed over a couple of windows. After making his way along the length of the wooden beam, he reached over and grabbed onto a drainpipe that ran down the side of the building.

using the pipe to climb up over he took a brief look around. Upon first exploring the city, he had come across this rooftop hideaway. he figured it had been a patio or garden at some point; a few pots here and there and an some unused lumber had been left leaning against the side of the building (this was the lower of two roofs). After picking the lock on the doors up here, he had turned this once abandoned place into a somewhat decent shelter. It wasn't the best place to live, but it was free, and there was no seedy innkeeper to raise questions about his income or unusual hours.

Gemini stood at the bottom of the building and watched as Padric climbed up the crates and up the rest of the building. She scratched the bottom of one of her horns. She wasnt as nimble as Padric or even Veruka for that matter. She sighed and shook her head, she climbed up on the first box, she kept climbing and got to the top box. She looked up and jumped for the wooden plank to heft herself up. She missed and came back down on the box but when she came down her hoof crashed through the top of the box.
