I dislike rap and hate pop even more. Long live jazz. _________________ "Anything good in life is either illegal, immoral, or fattening." - Murphy's Law

I miss the days of good rock.

Now all we've got on the radio is repetitive tasteless stuff with no real instruments involved. |

Rock today is screaming. If you can scream, you can be a rock artist.
And now it won't let me post again. _________________ "Anything good in life is either illegal, immoral, or fattening." - Murphy's Law

Yeah. Screaming death metal is good. Like Necrophagist and Behemoth. But power metal is good to. Like Nevermore. I like jazz to, I can play some jazz on my bass guitar. _________________ I only drink the blood of my enemies...and occasionally a strawberry Yoohoo

I like whatever happens to catch my ear, and I'm not really sure what qualifies as rock anymore. Looking at my iTunes library, a lot of what I listen to currently is listed as "power symphonic metal" and "epic hollywood metal," with some rock and world and new age and alternative and classical and "other" mixed in. _________________ Sade rhymes with Made |

Ok, so the music I like may or may not be precisely within the genre's I mentioned. The content of the message I was conveying remains unchanged. _________________ Sade rhymes with Made |

Considering the fact that I buy about 3 songs per couple of months, I can't say that I've ever been able to stick to a band or genre faithfully.
Well, except for The Strokes. I love me some Strokes.
I mean, there's a ridiculous number of techno songs in my iTunes library, but that's only 'cause I got a bunch of weird techno CD's from a friend. |

Uh.... I listen to alot of stuff.
Girly Goth ala nightwish
50's swing (thank you fallout for getting me into this a bit)
tiny bit of rap (cause Eninem's new album, pure gold inspite of the subject matter)
alot of rock and metal (disturbed, slipknot, seriously, Kerrang radio's a load of bull nowadays....)
but my two fave album's I've listened to recently are:
Eninem - Relapse: This is one I own, pure gold, addictive listen and solid pulses through out, awesome.
Various artists - Madworld OST: yes, it's a game sound track, but before any one rolls there eyes at me, listen to it on youtube, you will love it if you like rock or hip hop, it sucessfully blends the two. I practicly went to heaven first time I listened to it without playing the game at the same time. _________________ Right.... I'm back.... if your not, then how are you reading this? |

Hm... usualy I don't talk about this, but nobody can blackmail me as long as they don't find me lol.
My musical tastes are mondo weird, so don't try not to laught, aye? I like an awful lot of musical styles and dislike another awful not.
Classical music, great for when I'm trying to concentrate. Beethoven mostly, specialy because his 9th symphony. If you close your eyes and abstract a lot, you can feel he was some sort of medieval, non-nordic piano hero. Another great piece is his 7th symphony - at that moment, when only the good pianists can keep on. That's a medieval piano hero solo. I wonder what they used for fireworks at that time... I told you I was weird.
Other great compositions: Haendel - Sarabande; Vivaldi - The four seasons; Mozart - a lot of (try his Requiem - I love it), and so on.
Another really goods stuff is about is - get ready - game music. Not (only) chiptunes. I listen mostly to three kinds of game music: speacialy-composed songs (just like in Max Payne - Late Goodbye. The cello (I think it's a cello) makes all the difference. Still Alive's (one for Portal, and the other for Mirror's Edge, are also awesome.); Compositions so good that you can actualy play to someone, like Liberi Fataly, in FFVIII, and Remixes from Overclocked remix.
Notice that, although it says "remix", it doesn't mean that it's a Super mario fast paced, with a techno beat and a girl (probably high) shouting "yeah yeah!". The stuff in Ocremix.org is brilhant. Virtuous people who loves games. There you will find just about ANY style. and most of the songs are wonderful to listen. I can suggest a lot, but I will say only four:
1. A remix of a FF VI, Terra in Black, by Ailsean . When the guitars come... OH, the guitars... virtuous.
2. Dragon Song (Secret of Mana), by Hiroki Kikuta. Awesome as well.
3. Love hurts (Sonic the Hedgehog), by the founder of the OC, Djpretzel. Charming.
4. Finally, one which is not in OC, but deserves to be quoted. It's Wind Scene (Chrono Trigger), by 8-bit instrumental, a brazilian game music band. It's so calm, so well executed. Great song.
Anyway, there's much more to talk about, but I think that's enough. |

Canis you're not alone in liking well written game music. I've got a couple albums of game music that's managed to catch my ear.
For example there's the OST to BLACK _________________ "A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools."
