Indrick was confused. He was very confused. For him it was one of those mornings, you know where you can’t remember the night before but you get the feeling you’d done something stupid. In fact stupid didn’t seem to quite cover it for him, as he was to find out. As he opened his eyes all he felt was a cracking headache, it felt like he had twenty goats in there trying to push their way out. That or they were eating his brains very slowly.

He promptly tried to stand, unfortunately for him his legs and head conspired against him, and it was barely a second before he crashed into the dirt, his cheek landing in something brown and very smelly. His head hurt so much that all he could manage was animal growls and grunts. If translated to an understandable language other than doggish it would have sounded somewhat like this: ‘Ah man, what did I do last night? And why does my head hurt so much. And how did I get here?’ With quite a fair few more expletives thrown in for good measure. Some of them were quite colourful I might add. Perhaps also a question of why god did this to him. It’s all a little too hard to translate with absolute accuracy.

Now looking at Indrick there was only one way to describe him at that moment, he looked like shit, and even that was a compliment for the dark wolf. His hair was scruffy, matted and looked more like a wild animal on his head rather than an actual part of him, and that was the best part of him, from there downwards it got worse, dried ale matting fur further, some dried blood mixed in with that as well as a few scratches and quite a few bruises. Overall he looked like a drunken military platoon had gone to work on him, then decided to play hair stylist.

Lying there in the dirt, his nose filled with the smell of something that was better left undescribed, several simple thoughts flew though his head, he was obviously outside, he also felt filthy. Kneeling he tried to run his paw through his hair, an impossible feat to achieve to say the least matted and knotted at it was. He finally managed to coordinate his muscles to such an extent that he was able to find himself on his own two feet.

Looking around he saw a main street and on the other side of it there appeared to be a tavern door, Indrick had the funny feeling he’d been there before. He staggered out of the alley, leaning on the wall as his head spun, finally settling after a few moments, it seemed that the goats in there were finally content to graze.

He peered out and saw many furs going about morning chores and greeting the day, albeit in better appearances and spirits than him. His morning got worse however, as he felt his stomach rumble loudly, very loudly. He dug in his ruined pockets for coins, nothing there, looks like he was filthy and not a penny to his name.

Dusk had just came out of Franks bar. Frank, the only role model and closest thing to a parent figure he had. He thanked him again as he left.

Frank had given him some sweets for a coin he had found. Also a drink and some food. Frank knew it was a little much but he could help it. The little guy was nice and homeless.

Dusk when around the corner and bumped into a large wolf.

"Oh, I'm sorry mister", he said. He got a good look at him. "Um...I'm sorry", he said. Not to scared. He felt like he should do something to apologize. "um, here", he sid and handed him on of the sweets.

He walked quickly around the corner of the bar and went to the spot that was where he lived. Frank didn't mind him living behind his bar. It's how he met him and it helped him to keep an eye on him. But other than Frank, Dusk had nothing.

Indrick felt the little boy bump into him, it nearly sent him sprawling in surprise. His head still wasn’t quite working properly for him. It was really not going to be a good day if this kept up. On the bright side he felt a sweet pushed into a paw, after the kid had scampered off. He was going to lift it to his face to examine it when his morning began to take a turn for the worse. He heard his stomach rumble loudly as the sweet came up to eye level, it was small and looked like the perfect treat for a child. But it wasn’t proper food. He needed something proper, but he couldn’t steal, but he was so hungry and his stomach was telling him to eat something.

He was resigning himself to stealing something when his nose twitched as it smelt the kid’s scent around the corner of the alley. He felt an impulse to follow, but not for a good reason, for some reason the boy’s scent smelt delicious, and his stomach rumbled insistently. He shook his head and lifted his paws to clutch his face, the sweet falling from his paw. No he couldn’t, he wouldn’t think those thoughts, that child was not food. But ancient predator instincts told him otherwise, as did his stomach, almost against all odds seeming to feel worse, even going so far as to hurt from emptiness. It was a clash of nature and nurture within Indrick.

A clash that would normally on any normal Feilan be simple, that was do not eat a fellow Feilan, but for Indrick, his family had an old curse, that a relative had brought upon them 400 years ago, it was a curse that one hungered most for something, be it food, money or power, but this need was not just a simple case of desire, because when it awoke, it became like a fire inside, burning and causing agony until it was sated. Indrick knew that apparently all of his relatives who had had it at some time had preferred to die than to fail at sating it, so powerful was its hold over them. His own miserly father lived as a merchant prince hoarding his gold but casting out his only son to ensure that he didn’t need to spend money on the boy. And unfortunately Indrick had a horrible need for food, half the reason he had been disowned, he had cost too much to feed, and as he became more and more hungry he felt compelled to eat anything edible nearby, even if that thing was a child.

Indrick’s reason lost the clash in the end and he lifted his head and dropped his paws, his eyes looking somewhat crazed, logic and mental faculties no match for instinct, hunger and a curse cast on his forebears. He stalked down the alley, his vision was now clear, but tunnel like, he followed the boy’s scent around the corner not noticing any of his surroundings. Stepping on the sweet as he left, squishing it’s pretty white exterior into the dirt, it’s fragile delectable beauty crushed, it’s existence forgotten.

Dusk got to the end of the alley and reached, what he called, home. It was nothing more than a tattered blanket under a flt piece of wood that was held up by two boards. It wasn't anyhing at all, yet Dusk, the twelve year old boy sniled and called it home.

It was plain and clear that he had nothing, the only thing he had was Frank the bartender. And even then, he hadn't known him for that long. Frank always told him to stay in a bed at the tavern and that he wouldn't charge him a thing. But Dusk always politly refused, saying that he didn't want to get in the way of his paying customers.

Dusk smiled at what he'd gotten. It was a small basket with nothing much. He ripped a loaf of bread in half and started eating it once he plopped down on his blanket. Still smiling. It didn't seem that there was ever a time when he didn't smile.

Indrick crept up behind Dusk, his shadow falling over the homeless boy, his mouth hung open panting and growling, his eyes glazed over as he looked at the kid eating some bread, he paused looking the runt up and down, and almost, almost decided to go for the bread instead, but another insistent rumble from his stomach told him otherwise. He grabbed the scruff of the kid’s neck, lifting him up onto his feet off the blanket, staring the boy in the eyes as he licked his lips. The only reason he delayed was that somewhere inside he didn't want to, and it wasn't a little niggling doubt, it was a case of he was trying to tell himself that this was really really wrong, but once again he was too hungry, and he couldn't deny it.

Dusk saw the shadow over take him. He swallowed the mouthful of bread nervously. He then turned around to see the wolf from the streets.

"Um...hello mister wolf, would you like some -yip-", he said and was grabbed by him. Staring at his maw and into his eyes. He was a little frightened. He cringed a little.

"What do you want", he asked frightened. "You can have anything, just ask. I promise.", he said.

He probably didn''t realize what he just did. He did say anything. Not only that, he promised, anything. Dusk continued to plea.

"I don't have much but you can have anything you want", he said. And continued to cringe.

Indrick’s mouth opened a little wider, he however didn’t ask anything, he only tightened his grip on the boy. He sniffed, the boy was afraid, and his predator nature enjoyed that. And as his crazed mind slowly processed what the boy had said, he heard the word anything, and he opened his mouth wider, and put the boys head in his mouth, all thoughts stopping except his only goal to have his ‘breakfast’. He didn’t even bother about the boy’s clothes, he’d eat them too.

Dusk's eyes grew wide when his head was clamped on by the wolfs mouth. He didn't scream or anything. Then he suddenly realized that he had offered him anything. But he didn't know he'd ask for this. With tears welling up, he remembered his promise.

"As you wish wolfy", he said in the maw. "I promise you anything. So you may have...", he said.

He suddenly thought of his life. How it was nothing, how he had no one. He sleeped in an alley. He starved on a daily bases. He opened his eyes, and decided, this was probably for the best. He didn't struggle. He looked at the back of the wolf's throat.

"Ok, wolfy. Go ahead", he said with closed eyes.

Indrick paused for a moment… surprised by the boy’s lack of resistance, still only stopped him for a moment before he went back to eating the boy, swallowing him quickly, basically pushing him into his mouth till the kid was gone and in his belly. He could already feel the hunger abating, a nice feeling. But also with it his sanity returned ever so slowly. And looking down, there was a decided lump in his stomach, his sane unforced self was shocked by what he had just done, realisation hitting him as he slowly snapped out of his madness.

Dusk went though the weirdest feeling he'd ever had. He felt the wolf push him into his throat. Once his top half was in, the throat mucsles took over and worked automatically to get him to the wolfs belly. He still had a frightend look on his face.

Then he quickly feel into a small chamber that he knew was the wolfy's tummy. He landed with his back to the bottem. It was a little cramped, but he found he could still breath and it was kinda warm.

"Um...wolfy. Can you hear me?", he asked. He knew what was gonna happen to him. He would like to talk to him before it happened.

Indrick leant up against a wall as he first went through the thoughts of ‘oh my god… did I just? Yes I did…” then he slumped down. Shocked by his action, but in a perverse way happy that the hunger was gone, suddenly his day got even weirder when he heard a muffled voice emanate from his stomach. He opened and closed his mouth slowly in shock.
“Um yes… I can kid…” He paused for a moment “uh I’m sorry” however that didn’t seem to quite cut it.

Dusk folded his ears back when he heard the apology.

"Um...that's ok, wolfy. I did promise you anything", he said once he folded his ears back. "Anything...I guess that even means me. Don't worry I don't regret it."he said. Then he felt he should explain.

"Um...if you look over, you'll see my home. That wooden shelter. See...I'm homeless and I don't have anything. Um... I'm actually thinking that this is for the best. I go hungry daily and I feel lucky to have made it this far. And... I guess if I can keep someone from starving by feeding them with my self, then I think I can die with a feeling that I did something noble"

He said it all then paused for a sec.

"So Wolfy, I guess I'm glad you did it.", he said. It seemed kinda weird. But there was truth behind it.

Indrick tried to smile ruefully as his ears drooped. “Sounds like life sucked for you… But was it really good to let another guy down on his luck eat you? Even though you promised anything? I mean look at me… I know you saw me, I’m kind of in the same position you were… Homeless, broke, not a penny to my name... And I’m guessing it’s going to be uncomfortable for you soon…” Indrick’s ears drooped further till they were flat on his head, and he felt sick in the pit of his stomach, but it was more of a guilt induced feeling than a physical one. Unfortunately, Indrick had never thrown up in his life, no matter how sick he had felt, his stomach would hang onto the food he had eaten. Probably not a good thing if that thing was a poison… or a live boy.

“Ok… I’m Indrick… What was your name?” Indrick resigned himself to the fact that he’d killed the boy, but he felt that if he was responsible for killing someone, albeit in such a disgusting and horrible way that he would at least try to make their last time alive better, and all he could do was talk to the kid. Maybe he’d tell some stories to the kid, maybe some funny ones. He’d never had such a bizarre experience in his life, and he hoped that he didn’t have another one like it.

Dusk tried to cheer up. He promised him anything and this qualifies. It was a little tricky though with Indrick being down about it. He glanced around and couldn't see much because of the lack of light. But he did hear him.

"Um...yes I saw. A little, you uh -chuckle- didn't really give me time to notice. But perhaps it's for the greater good. Perhaps this is destiny and it was ment to have. Maybe I was ment to give up my life to save yours.", he said. When he admitted out loud that he was gonna die. It did put a knot in his throat.

"Um, I'm Dusk. That's the only thing I know about myself besides my birthday.", he said. He always looked up to the entrance of the stomach when he talked to Indrick, like that was the thing that was talking to him.

Indrick nodded resting his head against the wall… a knot in his own throat. Still he understood where Dusk was coming from, and maybe it was for the best that this had happened, because Indrick had skills and strength, and could probably earn some coin, only unlucky chance had landed him here destitute. And well the boy would only have had a bad life.
“Ok Dusk, that’s an interesting name, not many people get named after a time of day, but isn’t it a bit of a sad name, to place yourself at the end of the day and the beginning of night?” Indrick just wanted to keep the kid talking, if nothing else, at least he would know the life story of his meal.
