Greetings, gentlemen. I go by Mushroom on the tubes, as you can probably tell, but feel free to call me whatever you wish. I've been roleplaying for quite some time, over five years, but lately I've been out of the game. Hopefully this forum will help me change that, and I have high hopes :D

Here's some examples of my posting, from previous roleplays I've been in, the character I played as, Cyprus, is outlined below.
[Link]
[Link]

I suppose I should introduce myself before the character(s) I'll be playing as, so here I go x-x

My name's Kerri, I'm a twenty year old wannabe college student. I'd be in college but I can't sign up for any financial aid due to an issue with the Social Security Administration, they say my mother doesn't exist apparently o_O

My interests lie mainly in computers. I'm a hobbyist game developer, though sadly I have nothing impressive to show for it, but I'm also into drawing, writing [Fiction et non-fiction], and, obviously, roleplaying. I've been what some would consider a 'furry' for about a year now, though the only things I've done in the fandom are write and draw.

Getting to know me, if you so wish, isn't too hard. I can be a bit shy around new people, but I warm up quickly enough. I have a bit of a low self esteem issue, so when I meet new people I try to avoid talking too much as I feel I can be quite annoying at times. Once I get to know people though, I'm very affable and I'd go out of my way to help a friend in need.

I suppose if anyone has questions for teh noob, feel free to ask :3

Now for some character profiles.

~-================================================-~

Full Name: Cyprus Elios Alyssum
Age: 23
Species: Malayan Flying Fox
Sex: Male
Appearance: {I spent 3 days on this picture just for you guys x-x}

Eyesight: Quite exemplary, despite being a bat.
Height: 4'4"
Weight: 110 Lbs.
Distinguishing Marks: Black tipped ears, black crescents under his eyes, and his wings are completely covered in one massive tribal tattoo. If spotted without his attire, his chest, back, arms, and legs match his wings.
Self Care: Much special attention is put into keeping his gear clean, and maintaining a presentable appearance.
Describe Their Voice: Something like this [Link]
Manner of Speaking: His voice is very soft, and he has a quite an extensive vocabulary. No matter what mood he's in, every word comes out clearly and deliberately.
Marital Status: Single, not looking.
Occupation: Hired mercenary. Despite his comparatively young age, he's quite experienced and has had jobs ranging from escort to assassination, and has gained a reputation for having his own way of carrying out contracts.
Equipment:
-A long bow slung across his back, complete with arrows. As I'm not sure exactly how far along we along we are in metallurgy, so I'm going to say the bow and arrows are made out of tempered glass.
-A steel kukri machete, carried in a sleeve on his left leg
-A weaponized crescent sickle, his personal favorite tool of the trade, hanging from his belt over his right leg
-His typical outfit, the lower layer being sections of chainmail along his arms, chest, back, and legs, and solid metal joints on his shoulders, elbows, waist, and knees, and his upper outfit consists of whatever looks he felt appropriate for the day. He tends to wear gloves and thick soled shoes or boots, but can be once in a while seen in more formal wear.

Personality: Cyprus has always been very analytical. He'd observe everything around him, especially people. He'd often do strange or even horrific things to gauge people's reactions. Even at the age of 23, he still loves studying people's reactions, and is well versed at predicting them.

First impressions depend greatly on who you are. He's very well aware of how strongly first impressions impact people, and loves to take advantage of it when he can. Normally, even if planning a person's end, he's quite friendly, and in some cases, even open and honest. Refuge in audacity is a powerful tool.

In the rare case of friends, he's willing to completely put all of his trust in them, which is why he's ever so adamant in not getting close to anyone. In the rare case of people he definitively hates yet is somehow unable to actually eradicate them, he feels almost a bit of respect for them, sometimes even considering them rivals. Anyone else simply becomes "just business."

In the event he's required to work with others, he's less than excited, but still attempts to tolerate it. However, in the case of fellow mercs, his patience is very thin and he's attempted assassination of his colleagues many times. Working alone is preferred, allowing him to track and control all possible variables in his schemes. There's only been one exception to this rule, and he holds his company in the highest regards.

Miscellaneous facts, his favorite color is deep red, and he loves almost anything spicy, but is virulently sickened by bitter foods and drinks, such as coffee or unsweetened chocolate. Swearing is fine in his opinion, though he'd only use certain four letter words only when something goes horribly awry, which has happened many a time before. While he does his best to plan ahead, he's a bit of a daredevil once they're underway, throwing himself in the path of danger without a second thought.

History summation:
Cyprus was the only child of Maria and Alejandro Corves, born under the name Salvador. The family lived on the southern outskirts of Cancun, the coast clearly visible from their modest estate, and one of the families favorite ways to spend the evening. During his younger years, he was a wonderful addition to the family, helping his parents carry food and supplies during trips to the market, fetching refreshments for visitors, watching the homestead whilst his parents were out, et al.

His one flaw was his silence. When he failed to have said a word for a full four years, his parents were worried he might be mute, and had him examined by a local doctor. The doctor did the usual checks and found nothing wrong. This was a rather baffling case for him, and he simply told the parents, "He appears completely fine, he may just have a case of selective mutism." He went on to explain to the parents that it's simply an autonomous nervous reaction in young children that keeps them from being able to speak in social situations. After giving him a piece of candy and waving their goodbyes, it'd be another three years until they heard his voice.

"Everything is fine," Cyprus explained to his parents calmly, his mother curled up on the couch panting fiercely. During the night, he had captured a fairly large, but completely harmless spider and placed it on the sleeping missus shoulder. It's one thing he always noticed his mother had an adverse reaction to, and it absolutely baffled him. His father was quite distraught at him for the upset and had him retire to bed without dinner.

But he didn't mind. He'd been watching them, examining their every move. He was fascinated by people, and he had unconsciously decided at a very young age to study them. By this point, he had a rather extensive knowledge of peoples reactions to stimuli, the various personalities people have, and body language. This was all well and good, but he needed more. He wanted to know how people responded to the shocking, the terrifying, even the painful. Sadly, this wouldn't become apparent until more incidents happened, eventually leading to the death of his mother in an accident.

At the age of twelve, his speech issue had all but disappeared, and he seemed, to most, quite talkative and friendly. He'd made many friends at his school, and was excelling at his studies, having even skipping the latter half of sixth grade. But that would all end one day when he decided to find out how his mother would react to finding a snake in one of the kitchen jars. Unfortunately, he had made a terrible mistake.

The evening was beautiful. An early sunset gave the autumn grass a soft orange glow, and the soft breeze from the ocean and the warmth of the setting sun made the temperature exceptionally comfortable, what better time for a picnic? The family and a few relatives had gathered outside at a table, swapping stories and having a generally good time, when they heard a shriek come from the house. Cyprus took a mental note of what was going on around him as the other family members quickly got to their feet and ran for the house, sitting silently on the bench and watching everyone.

A few minutes passed, and he became curious of what had become of his little prank. As he stepped into the house, his family was silently sitting in the main room, his mother and father in the back. His mother was laying in her bed, breathing very heavily and sweating profusely, her father was telling her not to worry, stroking her hair and laying a rag on her head. The family didn't know much about snake bites, and his mother had been bitten by a rattlesnake. By the time they'd discovered the problem, it was too late.

Things weren't so perfect in the years following. As is unfortunately quite common, his father became very distanced from his son and the rest of the family. No healing words were shared between the two, and Cyprus started spending more and more time away from his home, taking refuge wherever he'd be allowed, usually the library or, once in a while, at a friends abode. His father was quite displeased by this, the freedom his son had he felt wasn't deserved, and thus he started to lock him in his room, feeding him a bland meal only once each day. Cyprus' social life virtually disappeared.

It was quite a bit for him to take. While he at first found many ways to entertain himself, the walls started closing in, and he was hit hard by a bout of depression. Mistakes happen, he knew he couldn't make things the way they were before, but he hadn't done all this on purpose. It was just an accident...

And as the days dragged on, his depression lead to a lapse of his sanity. Something in his head stretched too far and simply snapped. He began working at the lock on the door each night, scraping away at the wood around the handle. And one night, he finally succeeded in breaking it off. The sense of freedom was so powerful he could smell it. As he snuck out into the cold and empty living room, he sensed the one being he had ever felt the strange and painful sensation of hatred towards.

He slipped back into the kitchen, grabbing the sharpest object he could find, a simple steak knife. Normally he wouldn't notice, but as he looked at it in the moonlight streaming through the window, he discovered things about it he never noticed before, the rather precise notches in the blade, its slight curvature, the company logo etched so perfectly into the wooden handle. A simple yet elegant tool, he thought to himself. Satisfied, he slipped into his fathers room. It was rather empty, consisting of a bed, a dresser, and a picture the family years before. He silently moved in, examining the picture for a few moments. He missed those times. He missed his mother. He missed his father. The man in the bed next to him was not the same person he'd known all those years ago, and he only had himself to blame. Setting down the picture, he simply watched him sleep for several minutes, trying to prepare himself for what he knew he had to do.

[I'd provide details of what happens next but it's rather violent and pointless to the overall tale, so I'll let the reader fill in the details for themselves.]

The next day, the house was devoid of life. Something changed when he'd taken his father's life. He felt a strange sense of freedom, like he could take on the world. He knew it was wrong, but it felt so...right. No one knew who'd committed the crime, and Cyprus had started wandering the streets, turning to thievery for food (And he was very picky about making sure only to steal what he absolutely needed), and listening to the conversations amongst the rabble of the market. Every person who'd ever mentioned ill will towards someone else, he'd take note, becoming the unrequested assassin for many people. The exhilaration from the violence of the situation gave him thrills like nothing he'd ever experienced before, and he loved it.

As did a company of mercs who'd caught him in the act one night. Their act. He'd overheard a contract of theirs and was able to locate and eliminate the target just moments before the best of them had even reached the location. Instead of getting back at him, however, the merc, who he found to be named Ashis was quite impressed by his discretion in his action and asked him if he would be interested in a job. Cyprus silently accepted with a simple nod, becoming a member of the Bloodworks, as they were known. Most of them were in their thirties, but accepted the youngster quite willingly, mentoring him, and he once again felt like he had a family. And this family was full of secrets, tricks of the trade, and a strange sense of belonging. As they shared their experiences with him, he returned the favor, and the group was impressed by his formidable knowledge of the working psyche.

Around a campfire that silent night, he was asked his name by the leader of the company. He felt inside that Salvador had died many years ago with his family, so he told them he no longer had one. The group responded they had all named themselves, amongst them Ashis, Hope, Wyte, and Taceo, and that he should do the same. As he shared his history with them, they slowly formed his new moniker. Cyprus, the Cypress tree, a symbol of grief and morning, his past life. Elios, elysium, the final resting place of heroes who'd died in savage battles. And Alysum, the asylum, a refuge from hardship, and his new life amongst his new family.

Now, many years later, Cyprus has become more and more independent, in many regions his name having become synonymous with Bloodworks. His colleagues had told him he should continue to expand his skills, and challenge and conquer other continents. And thus we join him upon the northern sunny beaches of Domus.

~-================================================-~

And there ya have it folks.

I may create a second character later, under the discretion of the mods.

Hello, and welcome to Feila. I'm James, Co-Administrator and a writer for the forum. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me or RabidFox. Don't be hesitant to start or join RP threads, of course.

As for your character, I enjoyed reading the biography very much. But then, I am somewhat biased due to my liking of the country of Cyprus anyway. Very Happy.

I have to explain, however, that Feila has a few different settings, being Mediaeval, 18th Century, 19th Century (steampunk), and Modern. So all characters need to be marked for the age they are played in. If you could please mark the profile with the appropriate setting, that would be great.

Enjoy your time on Feila. Very Happy

Welcome to Feila MushroomSamba, I am Indrick. Local oddball and mentally deranged fool. Or at least I have been lately, I seem to recall I was qute sane once... anyhow, I shall lay out a list of warnings of what to avoid: prates, ninjas, dark necromancers, blue grass, yellow clouds, pikn polka dots, myself, Jackie Haystack, cookies, Todd's auto message, (also known as Rabidfox's auto message). And that's about it.

I like the character, and I like him so much that I will be sure to keep any characters of mine that I really like away from him (for survival reasons only).

Don't worry we aren't a scary bunch... though some of us are stranger than others. So please enjoy your time in our little corner of madness.

Aye, I noticed this earlier while I was reading the other profiles here. Please don't take this as an offense, but I did label the topic with a (medieval) tag. Should I label the profile(s) with said tags as well?

For now I didn't think I'd get into the other time period roleplays until I was more familiar with the medieval setting. Thank you for the friendly warning, though.

Ya don't have anything to worry about as long as you're not his target ;3

I think the two posts I already received are making me plenty enjoy this forum. xD

If you intend to have more than one character profile in this thread from another setting, then a tag would be appropriate.

My apologies for not seeing the thread tag. I was so interested by the bio I must have missed it. Very Happy

Ah, welcome! I like reading character profiles in any case, but yours was especially enjoyable!

Anyhow, I'm Rackenhammer, a scholar, revolutionary, and distant heir to the Spanish Throne!

Also the head of a company of mercenaries currently based in Gawain. It'd be interesting to see how they measured up to each other.

Hello and welcome to the forum. My name is Todd, and I'm the head administrator here.

We will soon be moving back to our old location at:

http://www.twilightus.net/feila

Don't worry, once the move is complete, it will be permanent. There was an incident where the original forum's data was lost, so we had to create this temporary forum as a place to wait until things got back to normal. All of the posts made before roughly 5:55 AM today will be transferred to the new forum. All posts made afterwards will need to be copied and pasted if saving them is a concern.

So you'll have to repost this character biography in the Entrance Hall after the move (I notice you made it around 9 this morning), but after that everything will be smooth sailing. I hope you enjoy your time here, and for more information on the current situation of the forum, see here.

Cool character, and I like the pic. It's got a sort of style to it.

It shall be done when I repost it at the new forum :D

Thanks, it took me almost a week total to get it ready x-x

Always fun to meet a fellow scholar. I don't think I'm an heir to anything though :C

Dude. Yes. I'd love to...meet...some fellow mercs.

No problem, I know the drill sadly. Though for me, it was actually about two or three AM, crazy time-zones. x3

Hehe, thanks. I was influenced a lot by Sonic and VGCats as far as art style so that's probably what you're seeing xD
