Backups

Google is already starting to update their caches, and I have saved a lot of the critical information for the forum on my computer. If you want characters and role-plays recovered, tell me now and don't be shy. Even if you tried to recover information and failed to find it, you may have very likely done it wrong, as it's a little bit complicated to use the search engine in such a manner. We may be running out of time to save the files on Google, I don't know. But once Google figures out that all of those pages are now dead links, we may get screwed over if we don't do something fast.

So, yes, don't be shy. Tell me your characters' names and any role-plays that you were in. Try to be as exact as possible on the names. It makes my job a lot easier.

"Home Again, Home Again" pages 1 to 3
"Miles from home, and bored" page 1

If you could try to find more of "Miles from home, and bored" and "Home Again, Home Again" that would be great.

I have managed to recover Miles from home, and bored pages 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11. Apparently, the only ones that weren't cached or don't appear to be cached -- Sometimes pages thought to be lost may pop up in the strangest ways -- are 2 and 10. I will begin to scour the Google caches for Home Again, Home Again.

Well, fuck. Google thinks I'm a piece of spyware because I move at the speed of light, and temporarily banned me. That's just fucking wonderful.

Well that's what you get for pretending to be spyware.

I was able to find pages 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 12 of Home Again, Home Again.

If you would mail any recovered data to me, I will post it on our new Backup Database. It's just a cheap solution using a free host at Angelfire.com, but it's better than nothing for now, and will give the users an easy way to find their role-plays in the meantime.

From the Yahoo.com caches, which are much smaller and less complete, I managed to find page 10 of Miles from home, and bored, which was not present in the Google caches. I will upload this page to the Backup Database soon.

Double post!

I need all of my characters' biographies, except for a few. Let me give you a list.

Todd Sykes - Medieval and Modern versions
Malcolm Neuman - Medieval and Modern versions
Eugene Kahler - Medieval and Modern versions
Jeremia Rask - Modern version

I especially miss Rask. I would get these myself, but, like I said, Google has temporarily banned me simply for looking at caches and they think I'm a piece of spyware. Hopefully, the ban is only temporary. Yahoo barely has anything cached.

Here are names of other people's characters that still need to be restored:

In case you have trouble finding some of Justin's characters, I have included some of the information that he had for the characters in his signature. You can use that information as keywords if you have trouble finding the characters. I'd like to get all of Justin's and James' characters back since they are away, and cannot backup their characters themselves.

Medieval:

Age of Muskets:
Richard Hathaway, Capricious Messenger

I have recovered some of his characters, but I know that there are more. I would try recovering a cache of an Entrance Hall page, and scanning the cache for character names, and then recovering all of the characters that you can. There probably will be multiple versions of the Entrance Hall page, so there should be several different pages of character names from different dates.

This goes for all of the active users. If you guys would really like to help out Feila, a good way to do it is by recovering people's characters. We want people to be optimistic, and if they end up losing all of their hard work, they may not be very eager to restart. Let's try to lighten the load on everyone, and help out the userbase as best as we can.

Post any recovered character biographies here at the Shady Tavern, and I will move them to the Recovered Characters thread.

As for role-plays, I miss "Don't Count your Chips Before They're Cashed". I would very much like to have as much of that thread back as possible, as it included Jeremia Rask, one of my favorite characters and his only role-play so far. Same goes for "You Will Not Survive". A couple other meaningful threads are "Life Sucks and Then You Die" and "Joe's Tavern".
