In the fading sunlight, Ruean sat on the curb by her and Pretty's new house. She light up a cigarette and took a long drag from the tobacco stick. Her golden eyes watching all who passed and glared at those who stared. She sighed as she thought of what to do next. Pretty was not around, Andre was off doing something and here she was with nothing to do but furry watch. It was quite boring but some things did catch her eyes. Like some wingless furry pups playing with hover boards, or a new car that ran for 80 miles per gallon. She soon picked herself off the curb and began walking toward the nearest bar to drink away her boredom.

Kolin had been sleeping late. He had also been sleeping on a park bench. His apartment had burned down some weeks ago, and assasination attempts had made him a bit too paranoid to get a new one. So, he was out on the street. The noise of the city eventually roused him to wakefulness.
*Ugh, what day is it? Wednesday, yes. That means that tomorrow... what did I have tomorrow? Oh, yes, the magician's meeting. That's gonna be interesting. Better get to Raymon and help him get ready.*
He unfolded his wings, and went for a short flight to rid himself of drowsiness. Afterwards, he sought to see if he could find a late breakfast, when who should he encounter but Ruean, a dragon which just rubbed him the wrong way.
"Oh, you." Kolin said in a flat tone. "Unless I've seriously overslept, this is an hour most would consider too early to get drunk, not that I expect you to care."

(Seeing as this is a new Feila site, I thought it best to make a new character)

Now, most would usually go in the OPPOSITE direction of the wierd looking mutant and the dragon but not Fay. Fay was a little...different. He stood on the corner staring over at the two talking, decided it was best to watch and not interfere. He slowly snapped his beak open and shut making a small clicking noise as he did so. He usually did this when bored and right now, he was deathly bored.

Ruean glared at Kolin. "I may have a drink early in the day but at least I rest my head on a pillow instead of a bench." She took another swig of the beverage. "By the way. Why in the seven hells are you even sleeping out here? Some new strategy?" A clicking sound interrupted her thoughts. "Bloody hell what is that sound?" Ruean turned her head to see Fay. "Wow. That is the most annoying sound I've ever heard... Second only to Bird-brain's babble about tactics." She jutted her thumb in Kolin's direction.

"The strategy is survival. If I got lodgings in any building, I'd stand out. I've had too many people shoot at me to take that kind of risk." kolin deadpanned. "I'm suprised you hadn't realized that; I'd find it hard to believe you hadn't been the target of assasins yourself sometime in your life." *Though who would bother?* Kolin thought.
That much explained him being out and about. Kolin was in Domus on a job for Raymon, who was a semi-legal dealer in books, but that was not a public fact. He had a flight back scheduled for 4:30 in the afternoon, but it was only 9:45 AM now.
Ruean's jab about his babbling didn't do much to improve Kolin's attitude towards her. "Oy, when Edwin decides dragons are about as dangerous to them as foreign space programs, don't come crying to me. The name's Kolin, by the way." The last sentence was dirceted at Fay, but Kolin intended Ruean to hear it too.

Ruean snapped her jaws at him. "Unlike you I don't try to hide from my assassins. I hunt them down." She looked at him up and down. "Get the house Dexter. You can use the shower to clean up. I might have some clothes that will fit you." She cracked her neck waiting his response.

Fay looked at the from behind a tree and the stepped out so they could get a better look at them. He made the beak clicking sound again but this time it was fatser and much louder. He made that sound when excited or happy. He spoke in a very powerful Afrikaans acent. "Howzit? My name's Fay! Hey, I was wodnerin' if anyy of you knew a dragon named Andre? I need to speak with him about somethin, A.S.A.P."

Kolin just shrugged at Ruean's demeaning comment. "Well, that's your expertise. Me? I don't have time or inclination to go haring after the hired guns of a shadowy international organization, especially when there are those who do, and are more than happy to."
The dragon's offer of hospitality actually coaxed a smile out of Kolin. "Perhaps I misjudged you. Just don't blame me for the bullet holes."
He was about to move off when Fay came into the open and asked after Andre. "Hm? You sure he's here? He was in Gawain last I heard of him, but then, so was his mother."

"I am his mother bird-brain. Besides there is already a few in there from the drunken firing match I had with Gogo earlier this week... Pretty wasn't too happy but I won so I really don't care... " 'LIAR!!!' Her brain shouted at her. 'You were on your knees begging for her to forgive you, you darn drunk.' She turned to look at Fay. "And what do you want with him?" She took another long drag of her cigarette. Letting the smoke out her nostrils, she purposely let the smoke go toward Kolin's face. She finished off her bottle and threw it into a trash can though there was a perfectly obvious recycling can next to it. She looked up at the sky as it grew dark. "Smells like rain. The lot of you in my house. Andre won't be back for a while and Kolin you reek of filth. I can barely stand the stench."

"I know you're his mother. I visited Suki right after you left." Upon hearing of the shooting match Kolin just shook his head. *What posses Pretty to even tolerate your company, I cannot fathom. Love can only cover so much.* He used a bit of his new-found wind-magic to keep the smoke away from his face. He had been practicing, and just couldn't resist showing off. When Ruean threw the bottle in the trash, he stepped hard, releasing a jolt of earth energy that launched the bottle out, the shot a small botl of electricity to direct it to the recycling can.

He grinned, and laughed at Ruean's attepmted assault on his smell. "Sometimes the best defense is to be offensive. Repels the riffraff, in any case." He continued to laugh as they went down the street.

Ruean looked unfazed. "I knew there was something different about you. Now I know more about you. You are still a moron. Never show off. It allows your enemies a closer insight on your potental and how to distroy you. Becareful before showing off." Ruean opened the door and walked in. She had covered most of the bullet holes with plaster and pointed down the hall. "Go to the end of the hall and to the left. There is a shower. When you are finished there go across the hall to the bedroom. You will stay there. I'll have clothes laid out for you."
Ruean may be a bit of an a$$ some times but she knew Kolin was in trouble and he did help stop Marcus, who had hurt Pretty. For that she was eternally grateful. Though she never would admit it out loud.

Kolin shrugged. "Thanks for your concern, but it works both ways. About the only time I get any information on them is when they come out into the open, and the only time they come out into the open is in response to a provocation." He filed away the warning in his mind as useful, though.
After five minutes he was in the shower, industriously trying to get rid of the accumulated grime.

Ruean went to the store real quick and bought some clothes that looked about Kolin's size. Taking off the tags she folded them and took his dirty clothes and threw them into the wash. She opened the door to throw a towel onto the toilet. Quickly closing the door she turned toward the front door and looked for Fay. Upon not seeing the griffen she decided to make up some food for Kolin and herself.
