|

THESE CACHES WILL NOT LAST FOREVER. PLEASE ACT NOW AND SAVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. IT WILL MAKE THE RESTORATION PROCESS A MILLION TIMES QUICKER AND EASIER.
Guys, I have some great information! Google caches all of its websites. You know what this means? Many of our role-plays still exist on the web, and the site information itself! Please google Feila, specific role-plays, certain pages, anything and everything that may have some importance to you. We need to save all of this information while we can, and before Google clears its cache. They may clear their caches soon, so we need to act fast. There's a lot of content on google, TONS OF IT, so if you want to save your stuff, now is the time to act. Please save everything that you can to your computer, and Feila will be back in no time at all!
If you're not sure what I'm talking about, just try googling Feila and instead of clicking the main link, click the word "Cached" underneath. "Similar" will take you to pages not otherwise shown on the search, pages that could be very similar to the one you're looking at, so they decided not to show it in the results.
I'm backing stuff up now.
Search for "site:twilightus.net" at Google.com, and then any specific search queries, such as thread names. You may have to be very specific to get what you want, and remember quotes are your friends. Anything searched in quotes will be searched for exactly as written. For example, "search term goes here" would search for text that is written exactly as appears in quotes.
You may have to click "repeat the search with the omitted results included" at the bottom of search results to get the pages you want. Don't be put off if it initially appears that a page hasn't been cached. There are often multiple results of each page, meaning that one result of the same page could not be cached but another could be. I have found important information this way.
When searching for role-plays, you will need to do a search for each page. For example, type the following exactly as shown: site:twilightus.net "world of feila" "You Will Not Survive" page 2. This brings up page 2 of the You Will Not Survive role-play, and so on and so on. Great for restoring favorite role-plays. Also, keep in mind that there are often multiple versions of each page, and one page may be an older version than another. Keep looking for the most recently updated version, and don't get discouraged.
You can easily save an entire webpage, there's no need to copy and paste into a word document. Just right click a page and select "Save Page As..." _________________ "Anything good in life is either illegal, immoral, or fattening." - Murphy's Law

Thanks to the Google caches, restoration of the forum has greatly accelerated, and we will be back to our old selves in no time at all. Check the threads for updates. They are getting beefier all the time. The introduction threads to the nations and territories will be among some of the first to be reconstructed. You may notice a lack of proper formatting, such as no bold or italics, but this is a secondary concern and will be dealt with as I have the time.
Don't worry, everything is getting right back up to speed. _________________ "Anything good in life is either illegal, immoral, or fattening." - Murphy's Law

There are also some caches on Yahoo.com, which are searched in the same manner as the ones on Google.com. However, the caches on Yahoo are much fewer than the ones on Google. So it's advisable only to use the Yahoo caches if you can't find what you're looking for on Google, which is much more complete. I have managed to restore some pages from Yahoo's caches that were not available in Google's caches. |
