(The first few things are old, and I have one new piece of artwork)
A little while ago, someone quoted to me a snippet from a wikipedia article:
Wikipedia, your number one source for mostly-accurate information wrote: | Interstellar space travel is unmanned or manned travel between stars. The concept of interstellar travel in starships is a staple in science fiction. Interstellar travel is tremendously more difficult than interplanetary travel. Intergalactic travel, the travel between different galaxies, is even more difficult.
Many scientific papers have been published about related concepts. Given sufficient travel time and engineering work, both unmanned and generational interstellar travel seem possible, though representing a very considerable technological and economic challenge unlikely to be met for some time, particularly for manned probes. NASA has been engaging in research into these topics for several years, and has accumulated a number of theoretical approaches. |
Of course I knew all of this already. I had worked through all of the challenges many times over, long before this conversation took place, but I had yet to put any of it down on paper. So, I proceeded to design a starship:

Various maps of Feila before and during the Mage Wars. Brown/Tan is heavy population and influence; the colorful areas are the lands ruled by the Dragon of the West, The Dragon of the North, and so on; grey is Dysuhlian expansion and control of one kind or another.

Shazam.
Those were indeed some nice looking rodents.
I've always wanted a rat or mouse.
Or a horse. _________________

Something new, however also old. I saw this crude sketch I had done many years ago and figured I would digitize it, at least partially. I use to play as this... thing, back in the USI-RPG days when I was not but a wee lad.

I'd advise against mice. Sure they're small and easy to care for, and they have good tempermant, but they also smell strongly and they're about as smart as your desk chair. I do admit that it has been a while since I've had any direct experience with mice.
EDIT: No offense meant to anyone who owns mice.
Rats have many advantages over horses. 1) They cost around 15 dollars if you buy them, sometimes a little less or more if you get them from a breeder. 2) Neutering a rat, while usually unecessary, costs something on the order of 45 bucks. 3) It's hard to cradle a horse in your hands. Rats are intelligent and seek out human attention, much like larger pets. _________________ Sade rhymes with Made
