-----------

Name: Trilok of the Nivrutti
Gender: Male
Age: 20 (Not long-lived Avian; an average lifespan in comparison to other creatures)
Race: Skin Avian/Yariguíes Brush-Finch

Eye Color: Reddish-brown
Hair Color: Orange with black roots (Spiky)
Wing Color: Black
Tail Color: Black
Skin Color: Tan

Height: 5'10"
Build: Medium
Markings: Tribal scars on the cheeks

Disposition: Trilok can be unpredictable in nature. Stubborn yet compromising, courageous though soft-hearted, clever albeit quirky, and just seemingly a little bit of everything while being hard to read. He can have moments when his goals seem at his feet and others where he feels like they're hopelessly far away. He's not a man that is immune to the "human" condition.

Alliances: Nivrutti, various Piriqui tribes, Domus

Enemies: Edwin, Gawain

History:

Before the first, Edwinish colonists arrived on the Southwestern coast of Piriqui around one-hundred-and-fifty years ago, life for the local tribes had been fairly peaceful. It was with the introduction of excessive logging, mining, agriculture, and pastoralism that the balance of the natives was upset. Tribes were forced out of their territories with the encroaching development, and hunting and gathering sites that they had been using for thousands of years had to be abandoned to the colonists. This disturbing shift of power triggered fear, anger, and anxiety in the locals, however, there was little that they could do to oppose the superior weapons of the furry strangers. Against the strength of guns and swords, the natives had no choice but to buckle under the pressure and move either inland or along the Southeastern coast. In the dry season, this crowding caused territorial skirmishes between overlapping tribes when there was not enough food sources to go around. Tribes had to either migrate to a different location or battle for hunting and gathering grounds.

Some fifty years after the Edwinish had taken over the Southwestern and Southern coasts as well as some parts further inland, the Domish began colonizing in the Southeast. This caused tribes in that area to also be forced to migrate, which lead to even more crowding and territorial skirmishes among the Piriqui tribes. However, the Domish were considerably friendlier to the natives, while the Edwinish had been downright hostile. Finding the benefit that could be obtained in allying with the Piriqui, Domus formed peace treaties with the local tribes.

When the Edwinish and Domish colonies finally clashed, the Piriqui were given muskets by Domus on the condition that they aid in the battles against Edwin. Since the Piriqui essentially hated the Edwinish, many of the tribes agreed to these terms. In the Piriqui's eyes, they were fighting for their land back from the Edwinish, as the Domish promised them a reasonable share of land in exchange for their assistance. However, Piriqui tribesmen were not as skilled with guns nor as disciplined as organized military units, and so their efforts in the ensuing war were only mildly effective at best. The darkening situation of the Piriqui did not approve any when Gawain entered the fray only twenty years ago, joining sides with the Edwinish.

Trilok came into the world around the same time as the Gawainans began sharing land and battles with the Edwinish. A skinned Yariguíes Brush-Finch, Trilok was born to the tribe of the Nivrutti, an egalitarian, hunter-gatherer society residing in the Southwestern forests of Piriqui. Due to the tribe's nomadic status, the members of the Nivrutti lived with the ideal that everyone is born equal from birth, as no one was ever able to hoard food and material items that would have made them appear superior. Therefore, there was no hierarchy and every adult of the tribe was considered of equal voice, including the women. The men hunted and the women gathered, though, sometimes the women would help the men track game or catch animals themselves. Children assisted their mothers with foraging and cooking. Boys would begin learning the arts of hunting at three, and by five, be capable of catching small animals on their own.

Because Trilok was raised near the Edwinish and Gawainan settlements, he had a front row seat to the horrors that were befalling his land and his neighbors. While the war-shy tribes, which included the Nivrutti, avoided conflict with the hostile colonists, there were many Piriqui who were determined to fight against the outsiders. It was not uncommon to hear of the deaths of his feathered brethren, as well as the atrocities of the Avian slave trade that had taken their region victim. Growing up in such a frightful environment, it took its toll on Trilok by inspiring him to take action.

At first, the young Trilok could not get his tribe to go to war with the colonies. It was pointless, they said, and in their current state, it was. Eventually, the Nivrutti were forced to move Eastwards, as harsh conditions demanded of them. It was only some time after the tribe migrated that they were approached by Domish diplomats, and offered a place in the war in exchange for land rights that would be given on the defeat of Edwin and Gawain. Their tribe was also offered weapons, ammo, and access to beneficial trading posts. Food sources had become scarce due to land development and overcrowding, and the Nivrutti were growing desperate. It was either join the Domish or endure the suffering of malnourishment and starvation. Having no other logical choice, the Nivrutti gave in and accepted the alliance. For Trilok, this was the turning point in his life that would eventually have him rise to a respected war leader.

He was young, strong, courageous, and clever; all the things that made a good warrior. Using his brain, Trilok managed to affiliate the Nivrutti with other, like-minded tribes, who would become his allies in the battles against the hostile colonists. By contract, Trilok was bound to the Domish, but by his own personal agenda, he trusted them to carry through with their word if the terms were met.
