Padric stopped what he was doing when he heard a crunching noise.

"Everyone alright down there?" He called out, as he began packing things into an old rucksack. He really wasn't all that surprised. He had figured it was about a fifty-fifty chance that they followed him. With a sigh he let down an old rope ladder he had acquired some time ago. He hardly needed it most of the time, but sometimes it was easier than trying to take his normal route while carrying a lot of weight.

Veruka walked down the street toward Gemini, and everytime someone walked past her she grew richer. When she got to the alley and saw Gemini she had about 11 bags tied to her belt. Gemini waved to Veruka, who walked over. "Oh how did you manage that Gemini?" Veruka said quickly climbing up the boxes to Gemini. "I cant jump. At all." Gemini said shaking her hoof around in the box. "Well lets get you unstuck." Veruka said and started tugging her leg up to get it unstuck.

Packing up the last of his valuables into the rucksack, Padric walked over to the edge of the roof. After glancing down over the side, he began to quickly descend the rope ladder.
Upon reaching the ground he set his pack down and climbed up the crates to give Veruka an Gemini a hand.

"Are you okay?" He asked, before spotting Veruka's belt. "Um, where did all of those come from?"

Veruka smirked "Where do you get yours from?" she asked. Gemini whimpered and kicked the crate with her other hoof and smashed the box. She fell back against the wall of the building. Veruka picked up Gemini and hopped down off the boxes. "You need to be more careful when climbing." Veruka said to her then turned to Padric "Where too?" she said and smilied.

"Well, there's an inn right up the street, although it's not exactly the safest place to stay." He thought for a moment, considering the various places he knew were within his budget.
"We could try the Waterfall, it's not too far from here and it's a pretty nice place." He had stayed there a couple of times, but with it being a fairly popular inn it could be difficult to keep a low profile. Hopefully they had a couple of rooms available.

Gemini and Veruka smiled at each other and nodded. "Why not your place?"They both asked. Then Gemini tilted her head. "Waterfall? Like the one out in the forest. I used to go there when I was a child." Gemini bleated and wondered into a little fantasy world of hers. Veruka sighed and shook her head. "Dont mind her. She did it alot." she whispered and continued to watch Gemini.

"Well, I think that after two years of being slaves you'd want to stay somewhere nice," Padric said, picking his pack up. " There's only really room for one person to live comfortably up there, and I've only got one bed." After thinking for a moment, he pulled out a couple of cloaks and handed them to the girls.
"Here; with these it'll be less likely that people will recognize you. The Waterfall's not too far from here, but there's still the chance of someone from the arena spotting you."

Gemini quickly grabbed the cloak and threw it on over her dress. Veruka sighed and took it. "Fine to the Waterfall it is." she said and pulled the cloak over her head and put the hood up. Gemini started jumping and laughing for joy. "The Waterfall, the Waterfall!" she bleated. Veruka quickly untied two of the biggest coin purses from her belt and pushed them in Padrics hands. "Thats for taking us with you and for putting up with Gemini." she said.

"Keep it," Padric replied, waving away the offered money. "You two need to save what you've got." With that he began walking.

The Waterfall Inn was a pleasant little Inn, known for their use of fountains and ponds and streams as decorations. What had originally just been a watermill on the edge of Rennes had been rebuilt over time as the city grew; now it was a medium sized inn, using the original waterwheel as a means to pump water to the inn's baths and fountains.

A sign hung over the front doors, painted in shimmering blues to make it look like a waterfall, and with the title of the inn proudly emblazoned in silver lettering. Inside the main common room there was a pleasant fountain set against one wall, made to look like a natural waterfall. There were similar features in all of the common rooms, as well as the bath houses. it was unusual to be sure, but it helped to make The Waterfall unique, and gave the whole place a relaxed atmosphere.

Walking up to the front desk, Padric smiled and dug a small bag of coins from his backpack. "I'd like to have three rooms for tonight, please."

Gemini looked astonished at the beauty of the place. She walked over to the nearst fountain and stared down at her reflection in the water. Veruka tied the bags back to her belt and followed Padric up to the front desk. "Two rooms, I'll share one with Gemini." she whispered to Padric. They got all the rooms checked , they were right across the hall from each other. Veruka turned to get Gemini. Gemini was crying into the fountain. "Its not me, Its not me." she kept mumbling.

Padric heard Gemini crying quietly. After nodding a brief "thank you" to the concierge he walked over to the fountain.
"What's the matter?" Padric asked quietly, handing Veruka a room key. He wasn't really sure how much help he could be in this situation, but he supposed any assistance he could offer would be better than nothing.

Gemini looked up at Padric and sniffled. "Its not me. Its not me." she bleated and pointed to her reflection. Veruka sighed and walked over to Gemini. "What are you talk~~~" she stopped short in her sentence and drew back from the water. She looked down at her hands and began to cry as well. "Its not me either. Where did I go?" she whispered and closed her eyes and walked toward the hall toward her room. Gemini kept staring at the water. It showed a perfect reflection.

"Gemini?" Padric knelt down next to her, "Come on, let's get you up to your room." Taking her hand, he gently led her back to the room she was sharing with Veruka.
"So, tell me what's going on here." He said gently, guiding her to sit down on the bed. "What do you mean it's not you?" He hoped it was something that he could help with, otherwise taking them to this inn may have been a big mistake.

Gemini blinked a few times. "My fur you see purple and silver right? I had white fur with black spots. And my horns were brown and way smaller, my hair was short and straight now long and curly. I dont reconize myself." she bleated. Veruka sat on the bed next to her in the fetal position twirling a coin in her fingers. "I had bright orange fur, with beautiful black stripes. Now....I dont know how this happened" Veruka whispered and placed her head on her knees and dropped the coin by her feet.

Padric was stunned at this. He had figured that these were their normal fur colors; sure Gemini's fur was a little unusual, but he had seen others with unusual fur before. This was startling though, had their owners actually used magic to have them changed against their will like this? It was a chilling thought.
"Well," he said trying to break the silence, "I'm sure there's a mage somewhere in this city that can change you back to normal. We can start looking tomorrow." He cleared his throat a little. "And, umm... it's not all bad, I mean, it does look nice." He blushed as he said that, not really sure where it came from.
